Clackamas County Adds Nature Themed Playground at Barton Park in Boring, Oregon
Installation of a new GameTime play structure is now complete at Cedar Acres Park in Baker City, OR. The playground was installed by a group of volunteers from the Maintenance & Construction Section (MACS) of the Oregon Recreation & Park Association (ORPA) as well as MRC’s Oregon playground designer Martha Rainey (pictured below getting her hands dirty).
The playground design possesses slides, climbing apparatuses, as well as a few other ground-level play components. Engineered wood fiber is being used for the safety surfacing throughout the use-zone of the playground to lessen the impact of falls.
The park equipment was purchased utilizing a $15,000 grant from the Ash Grove Charitable Foundation. The playground surfacing, supplies and hosting costs were paid out of the City Playground Equipment Improvement Fund, which was established in 2014. Local businesses and organizations including the Baker City Lions Club provided lunch and beverages throughout the two-day installation. The new Cedar Acres Park playground is one of three planned neighborhood park improvements in Baker City.
