The Sacramento River Cats opened the 2017 season with some new flare to their stadium. During the offseason, Raley Field was overhauled with new concession stands and a gorgeous kids zone, making the Sacramento, CA baseball experience top-notch for the entire family. Down on the Farm children’s area is located behind the third base line and is jam packed with fun!

River Cats owners came to MRC’s Sacramento area GameTime playground designer Kelly Oakes with a vision. From the seats at the stadium, The Tower Bridge is clearly visible in the gorgeous background. The Tower Bridge is a trademark of the town and with that, the vision of River Cat ownership was to design and install a custom themed playground structure that highlighted it. After a design session, Kelly proposed an AWESOME design that ownership absolutely loved.

By utilizing HDPE playground panels throughout the play structure, Kelly was able to mimic almost identically the look of the Tower Bridge. Aside from the customization, the play structure is filled with playful elements! From slides, to climbers, to play panels, children at the ball park can let their imaginations run wild while playing on this amazing one-of-a-kind playground.

A unique aspect of the play area is the inclusion of an interactive app that has kids “Train like a River Cat”. Children are able to earn a certificate for completing the exercises that are posted throughout the play area. Exercising while having fun… what could be better?!

To finish off Down on the Farm children’s area at Raley Field, Kelly assisted with the design and installation of a small baseball themed splash pad. The splash pad has three spray features including a custom archway sprayer with the River Cats logo, a baseball glove sprayer and a baseball sprayer. Splash pads and spray parks are always a family favorite at park settings because it allows play for all ages and ability levels!
